The location is actually changing, in a much better direction. Many of the cities between Arcadia and Bowling Green are below poverty line; however, Bartow, Fort Meade and Winter Haven are growing exponentially. Forbes rated the area Number #1 for new jobs in the US for 2012. Legoland and Mosaic's Streamsong in Fort Meade (2013) are bringing tourists to the area. US17 is a terrible representation of the these towns, makes sure you travel off 17 into the towns. It really is improving.
